Ability to set field character limit for custom fields on Pardot side

I've encountered an issue where I'm mapping custom fields in Salesforce that have small character limits (for a reason) to Pardot. On the Pardot side, these custom fields have very large character limits, meaning that whenever my Pardot form is filled out, they're not flowing into Salesforce if fields character limit is exceeded. Perhaps this isn't a problem when you're building your custom fields with Parot in mind, but these fields have been in use since pre-pardot and now I have to makes changes to some page layouts and in some cases and process builders to accomodate larger field sizes. This is very problematic!
