Objects' custom fields can't be queried if not displayed
Any custom field added to an object can't be accessed through the API or the force.com explorer application if it's not displayed on the concerned object's layout.
For example, if I add a new RegistrationURL custom field to the Lead object, that field can't be read using external clients unless it's displayed in the Lead layout (even when the __c suffix is added to its name in the query).
This is a problem to me because I don't wanna display some fields as they are, in their raw format, but rather hide them and display a formula based on their content.
It would be useful if salesforce allowed for non-displayed custom fields to still be queries through the Bulk API and other clients.
