Ability to report on Users' Permission Set Assignments

Authorization & Permissions

Now that we have the great and wonderful Permission Set Assignments, we also need to be able to report on it. Just like we can already report on users' role and profile, we need the ability to report on permission set assignments too. For example, we could use this to see how many users are assigned to XYZ permission set, or to see the login history of users with XYZ permission set.

As I posted 1 year ago, there is (and continues to be) many challenges with the suggested solution on this idea to incorporate permission sets into the Salesforce standard reporting engine.  However, we have published a Salesforce Labs appexchange solution called "Profile and Permission Set Helper" as an alternative solution - https://appexchange.salesforce.com/appxListingDetail?listingId=a0N3A00000FeF99UAF
In the Permissions Analyzer portion of this app, the user interface will give you a list of all the perm sets assigned to a user and allow you to look at specific app & system permissions, object & field permissions, and setup entity access to see from which profile/perm set that user is getting these permissions.

If you need to query for this data outside of this appexchange app, you can still access the Sobject source using the Data Loader or other SOQL tool.    See this blog for examples of how to run these queries: https://developer.salesforce.com/blogs/engineering/2012/06/using-soql-to-determine-your-users-permissions-2.html

We are continuing to evaluate if/how we can pull the ideas created in this managed package solution back into the Lighting Setup Experience but this Labs package allows us to help with some of your concerns faster.
