We have the Lightning Upgrade since August 21st.  I have found a couple of issues with it but the one we wanted to have solved is the ability to sort of quote lines.  It does this.  However, when we go to make a PDF for printing or emailing, the quote lines resort back to where they were.  So what's the point?

WE HAVE FOUND A WORK AROUND, though!  YAY!

If in Lightning, 
-Select the emoji for your name and a dropdown presents itself
-Toward the bottom SELECT the line "Switch To SalesForce Classic" 
             (This will bring you back the the Home Page of Classic just as we had previously.)
-Use the Search Bar to find the same Quote in which you were wanting to have the Quote Lines Sorted.
-Scroll to the location of the Quote Lines
-At the top of THIS QUOTE SECTION, there is a SORT button and SELECT.
-In our case it's not easy but it is now available to select quote lines and move them into the position you want
-Do this line by line, shifting between the Quote Line page and the Sort Page.  Example: If I have 15 items and they are suffled.  I have to identify which line I want to move and to where.  The 2nd from the bottom needs to move up 4. Repeat the actions until lines are as you want them in the Quote Line section.
-Select Save. You have to SAVE after each move.
-In Classis you can check by Making a PDF and see if the lines are what you want.
-THEN go back to Lightning by selecting the "Switch To Lightning Experience" at the top of the screen page.
-This will bring you back to the Home page (where you left earlier).
-NOW make a PDF as usual and you will find that the image of the PDF and when it prints, prints in the corrected Quote Line order you made in Classic.

Long way around but it works! 

I wonder why it works in Classic and not in Lightning?

We've been testing this feature on our sandbox running Winter '20 and unfortunately there appear to be other issues in Lightning preventing the feature from acheiving parity with Classic.

The Sort feature in Lightning for both Quote Lines and Opportunity Products correctly updates the sort order stored in the database as expected, but unfortuantely only Quote PDFs appear to be able to display this manually defined sort order. All other locations where we depend on sort order do not appear capable of displaying the manually defined sort order. Those locations locations are: Quote Lines Related List, Quote Lines View All, Quote Lines Edit All, Opportunity Products Related List, Opportunity Products View All, and Opportunity Products Edit All.

Has anyone been able to get the manually defined sort order to display correctly in all locations?

This is all very helpful.  My upgrade is not until October.  

Quote Line Items 'Sort' is there in my Winter 20 preview sandbox org on CS19...

Is there a setting I need to do?

Go to your quote, click on View all in your quote line items, top right, the button will be there: Sort

Where is it in the Sandbox?  Not sure what to look for.

This feature is only availble now for Sandbox environment with Preview.
For production environments, you will have to wait about one more month. 
Check status.salesforce.com, look at your Salesforce instance, and you will see the date that Winter 20 will come online.
For example, mine was October 12.

George and David, Can we get to this feature now?

Great job David Baumann about how this is coming up in Winter 20! I just tried it out! Saved me a lot of time. Thank you very much.

We are having to manually edit quote PDFs for many of our clients. This is a huge waste of our time and I honestly can't believe that this was brought up 8 years ago and hasn't been delivered

This simple drag-drop ordering must be added in the next release. Very old-fashioned and limited right now!
