Multiple record selection with a Single Lookup Fields

It would be great to allow multiple records to be selected when using a lookup field. For example, I have custom objects Supplier and Raw Material.  There are raw materials that come from 1-4 different suppliers. In order to link the records to the other object, you have to create a multiple lookup fields. Supplier 1, Supplier 2, Supplier 3, etc. This makes it impossible to view the Raw Material related list from the Supplier Detail Page.

If you could choose multiple records, then you can eliminate numerous fields as well as clean up our related lists.

Thanks! Nic

Polymorphic lookup fields are available in Lightning. However, we recognize the component is not public. You can do a lot with it, as in this example: . We intend to make a Lightning Web Components version public in the future. However, doing so requires a schema change that is taxing to implement. We expect true polymorphic functionality for the LWC component to take a long time. In the interim, junction object support is on the roadmap. That approximates the polymorphic functionality but has the side effect of enforcing a master-detail relationship.
