Schedule/Email Reports Running User as a Variable

Operational Reporting

When scheduling reports, you must pick a "Running User." However, if your report's View is set to "My Team's Opportunities" and you want to schedule this report to run to your Sales Managers, the report that is emailed out is the team of the Running User instead of the team of the Viewing User.

If we could set the "Running User" to be the "Viewing" or "Receiving" user, the behavior would work like when that Manager clicks on the URL in the Public Reports folder to that report and they would only see their team instead of the global sales team that the scheduled "Running User."

I suggest trying out Cloud4J's Report Builder (https://www.cloud4j.com/report-builder.html) as an alternative to solve this issue, obviously Salesforce is not worried about this one.

It is free to try, and is a good work around for this problem as well as other common Salesforce reporting issues (character limit issue and number of subscriptions to name a couple.) They are also extremely responsive and very helpful, I cannot recommend it enough!

Is there any update on this idea? As Chuck mentioned below, getting a list of "stale" opportunities to the sales reps seems like basic functionality.

Still a problem for getting salesmen a report (run as them) each week of their open opportunities past due list in an e-mail. My end users seem to think this is something basic the system should be able to do.

This would be very helpful if we could send ping emails to users without having to subscribe each user individually. For example, a report showing My Opportunites. This says this was to be in the next 2 -3 releases 3 years ago. Is here an update?
