Flow Designer - Enable HTML emails

Flow Designer is a great tool, and I am certain (hopeful) that Salesforce will continue to build on it.

One feature I'd like to propose is the ability to send HTML emails via the Send Email action. Currently, emails are sent as plain text. I have a number of flows that iterate over collections, and having the ability to receive a email at the conclusion of the flow with details on the records that were affected would be extremely useful. While this is currently "possible," the plain-text nature of the email being sent severly limits the ability to include that information in an easily readable form.

As of Spring 21, you can send rich text emails from the Send Email action. Once you set the Rich-Formatted Body option to true, any rich formatting applied to the Body (say, through a Text Template) will be respected in the sent email.

@Johannes Mayer, the link you shared pointed me in the right direction and solved the issue of my Rich Text text template sending as Plain Text. Thank you! Simply updated Rich-Text-Formatted Body to true on the Send Email action and the emails came through with the html formatting.

This is absolutely necessary feature. SF encourages declarative implementations and although this feature is a great addition, not having email with HTML out of the box. Doesnt make any sense to me. Please add this one ASAP.

Hi Alex,

Is there a way to add people in the cc contacts without the data being hardcoded? Currently, when adding the Assignment the Value field only takes constants. It doesn't seem to work with Recond (Single) Variables, Collection Variables or Variables.

The unofficialSF component is not an adequate substitute for a built-in HTML Send Email action because it only supports email templates for the Lead, Contact and User objects. The built-in (currently plain-text) Send Email action supports email templates for most objects.

A (much poorer) alternative to an HTML Send Email action would be to change the built-in SingleEmailMessage.setTargetObjectId() apex method to support email templates for all objects instead of just the three objects mentioned. This method is what the unofficialsf component uses.

I'm absolutely dumbfounded why rich text/HTML doesn't work for flow emails out-of-the-box. This is a HUGE issue for anyone, like me, who is trying to send emails based on related objects. I formatted an email body using a text template, and all I got was one block of text with HTML markup included. Please fix this ASAP.

@Stephen Thompson, the built-in Send Email action can't handle the html that's being pumped out of the Text Template and Display Text components. However, you can install the extension at https://unofficialsf.com/send-rich-email-with-the-new-sendhtmlemail-action/ It has solid support for HTML email, plus support for Email Templates and attachments.

I'm not sure what other people are experiencing, but when Rich Text is the selected option, I see all the emails come through with the raw markup, i.e. <p>'s and <b>'s when I wanted line breaks and bold font.

@steve may, @marc-Adrien Paris: Have you tried using the Rich HTML extension mentioned in the pinned comment? If not, I'd be interested in understanding what's holding you back...

I agree with @Steve May
This feature is required only if you need to send dynamic html content upon multiple Objects relations.
Otherwise for sure you can use the Email Templates.

@Salesforce, please help us to send HTML emails not using Email Templates

The current implementation of the flow send email feature is incredibly frustrating to the point where its really not usable in circumstances where the contents is modified often. Very disappointed .. Come on SF .. finish what you started!
