LMA should create licenses for sandbox installs

Process Automation

The LMA currently does not create a license record for a sandbox installation. This makes it difficult for an ISV to manage a product trial and assist with any customer problems. In particular: 1. The vendor's org will receive a SFDC-IN lead from AppExchange when the Get It Not button is pressed, but that does not guarantee that the package was installed. The user may abort the install before completion, but creation of the license indicates the package installation completed successfully. Workflow rules can detect this fact and alert someone to followup if package installation failed. 2. If a license is not a system license, there is no way to verify how many licenses have been used in the trial. If no licenses have been used after the install, a workflow rule could again be setup to detect this and followup. 3. Without a license record, there is no way to easily determine when to schedule followup activities during a trial period based upon installation date or expiration date. There is also no way to extend the expiration date, change number of licenses, etc.
