Frequency Reports from Multi-Select Picklists

Operational Reporting

Multi-select picklists allow more than one value to be selected by the user, and the total number of possible combinations increases rapidly with each additional value available in the picklist.

If you create a report that summarises data by the content of a multi-select picklist, Salesforce will report on each combination of picklist values in turn. This is no doubt useful in some contexts, but it would also be helpful to have a simple frequency report that merely counts the number of times each picklist value was selected.

Quick update on this: our team is currently working on developing features the community prioritized, such as scheduling reports as attachments ( We're still interested in addressing this idea and when our capacity frees up from the other work we're doing, we'll want your help in prioritizing what we work on next. We'll plan to include this in a future cycle of IdeaExchange Prioritization when we have more capacity (3+ cycles out). In the meantime, please help us out by adding your use cases in the comments so we can understand how this would better enable you and your organization.
