Authorization & Permissions

It would be excellent if administrators could login as any user role and profile combination to test out settings directly in the production environment.

This is similar to the functionality currently available where one can login as a user however
1. You wouldn't need to get the user to grant you access
2. You could test out role and profile combinations not yet assigned to a user

This would be extremely useful for verifying that users have visibility and functionality that they require BEFORE they complain that they don't have it.

With the Summer '15 release, Administrators with “Modify All Data” permission and delegated administrators with “View Setup and Configuration” permission can log in as any user without asking end users to grant access.

I think it would be beneficial to log in as a profile or at least view as a profile so you can see things users with that profile would see without switching pages and logging in as a user. Having this ability from the Profile Settings page would be fantastic

Hi there Adam. I was told buy Salesforce.com tech support that login-as any user isn't allowed under Professional Edition. This is a serious lack of functionality for someone like myself who is a single-man admin "team" in a small-business environtment. Please consider turning on this critical feature for your small business audience. Thank you.

I agree, it is a pain right now to notify the user to grant access and you wait until they do that.

great idea and would make things a lot easier in testing ... i know you can ask a user to give you access but this does not work across a large number of users.

This is a great idea and would save us time. Currently we create users for each profile we have and have to move them around the hierarchy to test. We also need to make sure to inactivate the licenses when not in use so we don't use unnecessary licenses for 'test' users. This idea would eliminate that. We do not want to log in as 'users' in order to test something out.

From a cororate control perspective, it's important to be able to verify access of each role. As an admin, I need to ensure that I have "done my job properly".

I couldn't agree more with this post. It should be standard functionality for any admin... not just for the developer license.

This is a great idea most times except when when you use other AppExchange solutions that are build ontop of Salesforce like Sales Compensation systems and then other Admins from other departments can log in as you and view all of your Sales Compensation!!!

@Sodakforce - it's for *any* org. You just have to contact customer support and have it enabled on your org.
