Adding an image processing library to apex would be very helpful for creating thumbnails and resizing images for applications that could use it.

If looking for exact duplicates, you should be able to reference the blob data (i.e. not apex image processing necessary).

This will be helpful also to compare images and delete any duplicates if needed.

There are options specifically to shrink the size of the original file as well. This can be done keeping the file in Salesforce or , for a bigger storage reduction, off platform.

This would be great, when using a lot of images in VF or document generation, simply changing the view size doesn't reduce the size in memory of the image, resulting in overruns.
