Default Values on Standard Fields
Customization & App Building
It would fantastic if we could have the same Default Value functionality on Standard Fields that we have on Custom Fields. It would make the user experience much better if we could default Opportunity Close Date to (Today()+30), or Opportunity Amount to ([Quantity]*100.00), or create other default value formulas like those.

come on guys. 13 years ...
Forcing all users to enter the default stage (New) on every Opportunity that has been created the last 13 years.
Just imagine how many clicks this could have saved ....

If you are familiar with creating Sales Processes, you can create a Sales Process named Opportunity New containing only the first StageName, and a second Sales Process named Opportunity Edit containing all StageNames. Use two Page layouts and RecordTypes with the same names Opportunity New and Opportunity Edit and link the two corrosponding Sales Processes. Add only the Opportunity New RecordType to the User Profile, and create a Processbuilder Flow that changes the RecordType to Opportunity Edit when you save a new Opportunity.
Now, when you create a new Opportunity, the first StageName is default. After saving the Opportunity, all StageNames are available. Quite a workaround but it works.
Nevertheless, a Default StageName setting is a much needed funcionality.
