Set report hierarchy level on the dashboard settings

Reports & Dashboards

Report hierarchy levels should be allowed to be set on the dashboard settings for the report. This way, a single report can be created and set to run at different hierarchy levels on different dashboards, eliminating the need to copy a report multiple times when trying to create multiple dashboards. Our org uses an open sharing model where everyone can see everything, but I wanted to create dashboards for each region that summarized only their information. To do this, I had to create 8 copies of 8 different reports, all set to run at different hierarchy levels to filter the data. If I would have been able to create the 8 dashboard reports, then when creating each dashboard select the hierarchy, it would have saved a lot of time and reduced the number of reports that we have on our org.

If you don't select to save the hierarchy, then the hierarchy will run with the current running user's level. So if you save the reports but don't set the hierarchy, then you only need to change the running user to see views from different hiearchy levels.
