Add Values to Forecast Category

Opportunities & Quotes

We'd like to be able to add/change values to the Forecast Category in the Opportunity field. The curent values (Omitted, Pipleine, Best Case, Commit, Closed) are not sufficient for our needs.

You prioritized it and now we’re building it! Thank you, Trailblazers, for helping us shape our product roadmap. Inspired by this idea, we’re working on the following feature:

Additional Opportunity Forecast category
We will be releasing on the Opportunity object a new forecast category "most likely", and allow editing of Forecast Category labels. This Forecast Category would be included in Forecasting rollups.
Estimated GA Release: Summer '22 (communicated but we will try for Spring '22).

Completely agree, there are some deals that will potentially close in quarter but have more risk than the commit deals and are not best case deals

If you dont get it any Forecast improvements into an upgrade, then can you minimally allow the object to be entirely configurable by Admins!?? Forecast mgmt varies a bit from industry to industry, so let customer configure like all the other objects!

This is too-little-too-late. The Forecast tab needs expanded functionality way beyond this. The current limitation of three customizable forecast types is the thing that kills the forecast tab for all but the most basic of sales models. Do not waste time on this idea without a full overhaul of the forecast tab's features.

These are not the urgent items in salesforce. If I understand well you have 5 status that you can change of name.......(Omitted, Pipleine, Best Case, Commit, Closed)

CPQ Drag & Drop Ability on Line Items is must more needed urgently. You are forced to present a quote to a client with a nonsensical order of lines or you start over from scratch.! With making quotes you can earn your money to pay back SF.....
All the rest are features to make easier and can wait.

I am not sure if the abiilty to change the labels is worth doing unless it is a piece of a bigger plan to improve the forecasting. How many Sales cloud orgs are using these fields? Of those using are they using them as marked out of the box or something else? Is therea a common theme amoung those for who this works for, does not work for?

As a former account manager and as sales team leader who loved to apply data and logic in sales and production forecasting for transactional and project based business layered in of indirect and direct channel levels existing out of the box solution might need more than just the ability to change the labels.

So great to finally see some movement on the Forecast object... PLEASE dont let this object fall farther behind. 100% agre with comments from Nick Keates. Let's ensure Salesforce continues to focus on sales and forecasting improvements... there's truly no point in using Salesforce for oppty mgmt if we cant easily get the forecast insight.

Hi Community, this idea is resurfaced and is included in the next cycle of IdeaExchange Prioritization from Jan. 18 - Feb. 1. It would enable additional Forecast Category on the Opportunity object, and allow editing of Forecast Category labels. This Forecast Category would be included in Forecasting rollups. Sorry to see this has again been deprecated in favour of high level "easier" features. I think the voting model is flawed in that it's only based on total numbers of votes by the looks of things. It therefore stands to reason that ideas that are used by more people and who may be less "involved" will always get a higher vote. This means our needs here will always be below the mark for winning.

I may be wrong on the voting model, but given SF's roots, you'd think that a real value function for CRM and the true science of sales such as forecasts would have a weighting here.
Printing dashboards for example is nice, but why not use reports for that or even dare I say it, Office 365 data connections.
