so, so annoying. in-line editing in list views could be THE feature that gets my staff out of their spreadsheets and into salesforce, but working around this stupid one record type restriction just makes it not quite good enough.
me, to my users: "List Views are great, you can update multiple records at the same time all from the same screen!"
my users: "I can't do that in this List View"
me: "Oh, well that's because we haven't filtered by a record type."
my users: "Now I can't see all my records"
me: "Well... that's because I can only show you one record type if you want to inline edit"
my users: "... can't I just use a spreadsheet for this?"

Can someone from Salesforce please comment? This is a significant limitation of list view inline editing. Some businesses separate new business vs renewals vs add ons vs upsells by record type (and that's a pretty simple separation of opportunity types). It would be helpful to edit related opportunities in a single list even though they have a different record type.

Would be useful for us when using inline editing. When creating a listview i should only select one record type to enable inline editing. However, we have multiple opportunity record types that change the page layout, based on the opportunity stage a certain opportunity is in. Thus, this makes use unable to use inline editing, since I have to select multiple record types, that are visible.
