The point of this thread was that a lead or licence are not created when someone installs your application into a sandbox.
We should not have to write APEX code to track where customer applications are installed, this should be provided by the Salesforce Platform (as it is in non-sandbox environments).
This discussion would be better suited to the developer forum. You could create a scheduled Apex class that checked for leads with source = Package Installation that didn't have an associated license. You would not be able to tell what app they installed, but you could still send them an email.

Thanks Tracy, but that would not work if lead installs app in their sandbox.
Because the source would be "Package Installation", so auto rule will not work.
Also SF will not create license for sandbox installation, so that will fail as well.
I would stil have same lead with "SFDC-IN" source, but the email content for that source is different from "Package Installation" source.
I still do not get why Salesforce creats duplicate lead at first palce? Can it not wait for few minutes to see if an app is successfully installed and then create the lead with appropiate source?
Your solution is stil better, but I do not what to risk email not going after sandbox installation. Am I missing something?
Androitus IT Services, try tying your automated email workflow to the license creation instead of the lead creation. Then you can use the Package Version field to determine which app was installed. Your lead auto response rules would then exclude any leads with source = Package Installation since your other workflow would catch those.

one more point, Anyone out there maintaining sale LMA org for multiple apps?
I see lead source as "Package Installation" , but no way to indetify if it is related to app1 or app2? How are we suppos to send automated emails to leads on install? We want to send specific email based on the app they installed?
Please do look into license for Sandbox org, ideally it should work same way as it does for Sandbox.
Salesforce, how many more points do you need to look into this?

we need this too.
I logged a suport case as I thought somethign was broken.
All I got back from our Premium Suport was "sory, that feature is not available at present", please log it in the ideas exchange.
So frustrating. We are paying SF a lot of money, and there is no way to get product enhancements!!!!
When something is not avaioable, SF give a very poor customer experience.
