We would also like the option of deleting our unused communities.

Regardless of the statuses (active/inactive/preview), maximum number of communities is 100 for an Org , there should be an option to delete the unused communities having status inactive and preview.

Deleting communities that are no longer required by my org and used should be an option for admins.  Thx!

We can't delete metadata related to a package installed that we want to remove due to the dependencies of a community in our system, and we can't delete the community, therefore not allowing us to delete metadata/package no longer needed in our system.

Salesforce can at least provide delete button for community that has not been published.

This is a must - we are in the process of "cleaning up" our org of old/unused functionality.  We started to build out a Partner Community and it is in produciton - but it never went live (Still in Preview).  But business needs/priorities changed and we have abandoned this Community.  WOuld LOVE to clean it up and DELETE.

I want to echo Cassandrea Steiner's comment - leaving these old communities creates technical debt we have to manage.

I have an old community in my org that was created in production but never used. It's inactive and removed from all profiles and we have no other communities. I still have guest users, profiles, and various other components that I can't remove. Now in my sandbox I see the message, "Salesforce is rolling out security enhancements that can impact your org." This security alert includes 6 required items that need to be completed related to communities. This is a significant amount of work for features we don't even need.

I would like the ability to not only delete a community but to disable the feature all together. That way if we need it in the future it can be enabled from scratch rather than having to clean up an old implementation.

Why is this not implmented after 10 years?

In order to keep our system clean and clear we need to be able to delete unused deactivated communities (as well as all other unused/deactivated objects).

Yes, please. I am just a Trailhead Trailblazer student at this point, and even I am finding conflict due to not being able to delete my own test community in a playground. There simply MUST be a way to delete communities. Anyone from salesforce, please chime-in and let us read a good explanation as to why this is not plausible or, hopefully, when we can expect to see the option to delete a community enabled. ~Thank you <3

This should be possible.  We are unable to clean up old communities that will never be used again.

There is no reason to keep communities which are not used anymore.

If you have multiple communities and some are no longer used, deleting them would be a great feature.  Deactivating them still leaves them available for someone to re-activate which could cause issues in the Org.  Highly recommend the ability to delete old communities be added.
