My poor report administrator is hitting a brick wall because of this! She is being asked constantly by our execs to report how late someone is when completing an overdue task and not having the due date separate from the complete date is making it near impossible to report off of. It makes no sense to track off of Due Date when a due date is an objective to complete a task which is VERY DIFFERENT than the actual completion date. PLEASE Salesforce let's get this on there!

Delivering this idea would reduce the developer hassle of building addtional fields and workflows. Not just due date field should be provided also there has to be a provision to bind that field with Status value so that the due date is automatically populated if a particular status is updated on task.

You cant even use workflow to force the due date to NOW() when task is completed. Problem with this is that the Last Activity date hangs off the Due Date. I have a formula thay calculates how many days since last activity, this shows a negative value if the due date is not corrected. Simple workflow should be able to change Due Date to NOW() when task is completed but we dont have access to the Due Date field in workflow?
9 years this has been on here. Start tweaking the simple fucntionality Salesforce intead of nothing updates for Classic users (who are the original customer of Salesforce and been using for years)
