@Saisai Wang: Are there any release notes on this? "Thanks all for your voting and feedback. This feature has been added to our long term roadmap. In the meantime we are working on bringing Advanced Currency Management to Lightning Experience. This should be available in Spring '20."

Like in Opportunity we have Close Date and it is key to fetch conversion rate from Dated Exchange Rates, we might need a unique Date field on custom objects to be as key to use Dated Exchange Rates. So, there could be lot of ways to think and go.
Or atleast we can enable it on core objects (Quote, Order etc) which have direct Lookup relationship to Opportunity.

The C-level management is still confused why values from opportunities differ from values in forecasts and custom objects. At least the financial team exports everything into excel and updates the values there. Finally the managers just look at the excel sheets rather than into salesforce.
This is a straight road back from salesforce to excel. Because users ask me, why put everything in salesforce when reporting is done through excel.
My answer can be, well guys, salesforce is going to fix this, but they work on this since 11 years ...

It would be good to explain the background as to why this has never been considered for roadmap. Giving the option on at least custom objects to define an exchange rate date field, which is used by the CURRENCYRATE() (in formula fields) and convertCurrency() in SOQL. It sounds straight-forward, but apparently there's a compelling reason why this would be from a Salesforce architecture point of view be complicated maybe?

This causes a lot of confusion for non-profits who collect donations internationally but use Custom Objects to manage allocations and payments.
For those that want to go the extra mile, you can access the dated exchange rates with Flows I was able to create a solutution for Custom objects (not standard Tools like Forecasts)- but it's cumbersome and just another thing to break for something that should be standard functionality.
